sources

to give credit where credit is so definitely due:

[the following are the sources that will be most commonly used throughout my posts]

Fallon, Sally. Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats. 2nd ed. Washington, DC: New Trends Publishing, Inc, 2001. Print.

  • Nourishing Traditions is the go-to encyclopedia for everything to do with traditional diets. Though Fallon is not a doctor, her research into the Weston Price Foundation and other medical journals and studies is extensive. She has been living this lifestyle for years and has raised 4 healthy children on such a diet. Her work has inspired many other books and publications. Nourishing Traditions includes recipes and hundreds of references.

Pyrtle, KathrynePerformance Without Pain. Washington, DC: New Trends Publishing, Inc, 2006. Print.

  • Performance Without Pain can be described as the cliff’s notes to Nourishing Traditions. The subtitles is “A step-by-step nutritional program for healing pain, inflammation, and chronic ailments in musicians, athletes, dancers…and everyone else.” This book introduces popular topics such as “Establishing A Healthy Eco-System” and “Foods to Avoid,” while also telling Pyrtle’s life-changing success following the diet about which she writes.

The Weston A. Price Foundation website and writings [http://www.westonaprice.org/]

  • Dr. Weston Price, a dentist, was disturbed by the poor dental hygiene of the modern American. His famous research resulted from visiting cultures unaffected by modern diet fads and processes and discovering the diets of these traditional cultures. His findings are the basis for researchers such as Fallon and Pyrtle.

Dr. Joseph Mercola [http://www.mercola.com/forms/background.htm]

  • Dr. Mercola’s website holds a wealth of information for those seeking the truth. He investigates and studies the benefits of all kinds of foods to find out what is truly beneficial, not just what the media tells us is beneficial. His “about me” section of his website is really amazing – his credentials list blows my mind.
